Fed up of stretching hamstrings only for them to feel tight a few hours later? Want to avoid using painful, hard rollers and balls in an attempt to undo knots? Tech-neck giving you pain? Oseto or physio’s good work not quite working? Or do you just want to feel great in your body and learn the techniques to do so?
Rocking and Rolling to ReleaseTM could be what you and your body have been looking for…
Whether you are injured or not, have ‘good’ or ‘bad’ posture, feel a little tense; your body will benefit from having its fascia released. Clients feel the benefits straight away and are always pleasantly surprised that there is no discomfort as the balls are so soft…no lacrosse or tennis balls here!
Using special balls, the breath and a gentle rocking motion, Paulette will guide you through tailored movement sequences to encourage your myofascial system to release. Afterwards you will feel completely relaxed and your muscles will feel ‘stretched’ as your fascia, which encases them, has been hydrated.
Two myofascial-release balls aid the process:
- A semi-firm, dark green, ball to enhance the fascial release by adding gentle pressure
- A softer ball to help support the body as well as to aid in the rocking movements
“When I fell from my horse, I injured my pelvis and knee, but several months later I then developed a pain in my right heel. Someone said it was plantar fasciitis and I should see a podiatrist. Luckily, I discovered Paulette and her magic green balls. As she guided me through some very easy-to-do sequences, I felt the most wonderful releasing sensation along my hamstrings, into my calves and the soles of my feet. The pain in my heel was no longer noticeable. The sequence when you release the spine left me feeling so relaxed I almost dozed-off on the mat.”
You will have heard of ligaments and tendons. In simplistic terms, ligaments join bone to bone, and tendons join muscle to bone. But we need to think whole-body connection. Fascia is connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three–dimensional web…think multi-layered spider web or a special body suit. Everything within your body, including bones, muscles and organs, are suspended within your fascial network.
Imagine when an insect lands on one side of the web…the spider feels this wherever they are on the web. The body’s fascial system is similar, if you have injured your knee you might feel pain in your heel. If you have a scar in your abdomen you might feel pain in your back. If you have tightness in your neck you might clench your jaw. This is because fascia is inter-connected.
This is why we need to think beyond treating the ‘site’ of the pain. Plantar Fasciitis, for example, is when there is inflammation of the ligament that connects the heel bone to the toes causing pain in the heels. The name however just describes the area: plantar is derived from the Latin word planta, which refers to the sole of the foot. But this fascia is connected to the fascia of the two calf muscles, and then the fascia of the three hamstrings. These connect into the sit bones which connects them to the pelvic floor and the back, and so on.
That is where this Method and its balls are magic. By releasing and hydrating the fascia systematically, the muscles relax, and the bones can realign. They also help your body connect with its parasympathetic nervous system bringing you into ‘rest and repose’. Using a hard ball can be painful which makes your whole body tense; connecting you with your parasympathetic nervous system and into ‘fight or flight’. So you also benefit from improved wellbeing and health.
“As a former professional athlete I have experienced every type of therapy there. Well, I thought I had! Paulette was not convinced that using hard balls was right for my body. She felt they were too forceful and that gentle balls are not only less painful but actually more effective. And she was right! I was literally speechless when I compared my legs after releasing one side.”
